  • 23 million Tonnes of CO2: Statoil has captured and stored a total of 23 million tonnes of CO2 to date (accumulated 2015)
  • Hywind Wind Power in Deep Waters: Statoil developed Hywind, the world's first full-scale floating wind turbine, which can withstand 19 metre waves.
  • 9kg CO2 Per Barrel by 2020: Statoil has set an ambitious target of reducing emissions per barrel by 10% by 2020.

Aim for outstanding resource efficiency: Using fewer resources to produce more makes sound business sense, especially in a world in which competition for natural resources is increasing. It is also imperative for strong environmental performance.

Prevent harm to local environments: We take precautionary approach and apply a combination of corporate requirements and risk-based local solutions to manage our environmental performance. We strive to adhere to high standards of emissions to air, waste management and impact on ecosystems- whenever we work. This includes integrating environmental and risk management into our planning and decision-making processes, at all levels in the organization

Create local opportunities: Our presence can benefit local communities in many ways. We see this as a key part of what it means to be a sustainable as well as a competitive oil and gas producer.

Respect human rights: We are committed to conducting our business with respect for all internationally recognized human rights, and are dedicated to doing so consistently with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact.

Be open and transparent: Transparency is a cornerstone of good governance. We have zero tolerance for corruption and aim to be open and transparent- so people can see what we do and the revenues we create.

External Voluntary codes: The Statoil Book and Statoil's Code of Conduct guide our business activities. These reflect our understanding and support of a number of external voluntary codes.
